Yellowstone National Park and all its wonders rests atop a super volcano, or is part of a super volcano, or is ________ (fill in the blank), depending on how scientific or sensational you want to interpret the facts. It is marvelous to see. Standing in any number of spots in the Park, i have seen the rim of the ancient caldera that rings a good portion of YNP. The land has been rising and falling for longer than scientists have been around to record, but recently there's been an explosion of news articles. Take a look at: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fg%2Fa%2F2011%2F01%2F25%2Fbenzinga804560.DTL or http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-1350340/Yellowstone-National-Park-s-caldera-volcano-ready-erupt.html
How exciting. Perhaps it could blow while I'm in the Park? Mmmmm, how deliciously terrifying.
Paul, If it blows try to get some good photos. Jim
